HOW do you feel like winning season 2 of The Voice Nigeria?

I can not express my feelings right now because it has been a long journey; 15 weeks of hard work, doing things I was never used to. All I can say is that I am grateful to God and to all the Nigerians who voted for me.

Were you surprised that you arrived in the show?

I was not surprised. That's because I'm a go-getter. Any image you draw in your mind can come into reality if you believe in it. I've always believed in my dreams and I'm always a go-getter. I painted a picture of myself who was the winner of the show. I did not know that it would come to this facility.

What experience do you enjoy working with Timi Dakolo?

Before entering the competition, Timi Dakolo had been my model. Timi is someone I've always looked for in my life; someone I always wanted to imitate, someone whose story inspired me and my work with him was like a privilege. Today we are winners together. I took advantage of his grace and prayed that grace would lead me to the stage of the word. I tell him, not only in his music, but also, as a young man who grew up in the street. I tell his story and it inspired me.

When you were ready to be evacuated, what went through your mind then?

I thought I got to the end of the road. But then I said to myself, even if I am expelled, it certainly would not be the end of my journey in music.

When I was saved, it seemed to me that I was made to be the winner of the show. Why do you think you won the show?

I think I won the show because of God's grace on my life. Second, I won the show because of my originality. From where I come, we do not falsify it. We give it as it is, and it is because of that that I am here today to celebrate my victory. Grace kept me in the show, while the originality gave me an edge over the other competitors.

How was your story when you started this journey?

I came from the street, where no one expected you to have it in life. It is like the story of the rejected stone that has become the cornerstone. I am grateful to my father. That's my motivation. That's why I'm here today. Everything I wanted to do in my life, I wanted to do it for my father. I mean, it's the beginning of a new joy in my family. This is the first step of greatness for me. My father always advised me to believe in myself.

Did you abandon your studies to pursue a career in music?

I was supposed to write my last exams to get laid off in economics at the University of Niger Delta, Yenagoa, State of Bayelsa. But I took a break from school to chase my dream into music. Music is what I believed. It is also what I live and that is what saved me. So I'm willing to sacrifice everything for my music.

Do you think that the start of your studies for music is worth it?

Yes, I think it's worth the risk. What was the reaction of your parents?

My father always believed in me and he always supported me, no matter what the odds. When I told him, I wanted to leave my studies for music, he asked me if I thought about it. I said yes, adding that this is what I want to do to make a living. He later gave me his blessing. He is the best father in the world. I know I will be a brand that the world will appreciate. I hope to leave my traces in the sand of time.
