Czech election latest: Europe’s Donald Trump WINS election in nightmare for EU

Czech citizens have handed over power to a Eurosceptic multimillionaire in Central Europe in a blow to the European Union.
The centrist ANO (YES) movement led by billionaire populist Andrej Babis, dubbed "Donald Trump of Europe", won the election on Saturday.

The former finance minister won by an avalanche, obtaining 29.65 percent of the votes.

The decisive victory of his movement ANO moved the country to the right.

It now faces the challenge of forming a coalition government with more than one of the other eight parties that achieved at least five percent of the vote.

Speaking at his party's headquarters, he said: "I think we will build a government that will be a single team."
Mr Babis
"We want to fulfill our program for a better life in our country."
The results of the elections paved the way for the Eurosceptics to lead the country, with 99.6 percent of all seats counted by the Czech Statistical Office, ANO had 29.65 percent.

In a blow to the country's traditional political elite, four of the top five parties that won votes on Saturday were those who defied the traditional political current.

Some exploited fears of immigration and Islam and have been attacking EU and NATO country memberships.

According to the results, the conservative opposition of the civic Democrats came in a distant second, with 11.3 percent of the vote, the strongest ruling party.

The Social Democrats, the highest-ranking party in the outgoing government that won the 2013 election, held only 7.7 percent of the vote.

The Pirate Party won seats for the first time, ranking third with 10.8 percent of the vote, while the most radical anti-migration, anti-Muslim, anti-EU, Freedom and Direct Democracy party came in fourth with 10.7 percent percent.
Polls showed from the outset that Babis was likely to become the next prime minister despite allegations of fraud linked to EU subsidies.

Mr Babis has been critical of the European Union; is opposed to the EU quota system on the redistribution of refugees and the setting of a date for the adoption of the euro.

Czech Republic's President Milos ZemanTwo days of voting are being held that began on Friday to occupy 200 seats in the lower house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.
A record of nine parties won seats in the Czech elections and will share the 200 seats available in the lower house of parliament.

The Central European country has enjoyed rapid growth, a balanced budget and the lowest unemployment in the European Union, but voters have grown tired of traditional political actors, giving rise to Mr Babis and other protest parties.

YEAR has maintained its rhetoric of opposition to the system of government despite serving in the outgoing government along with the center-left Social Democrats of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and centrist Christian Democrats.
Mr Babis' attitude towards Europe raises the possibility of joining Hungary and Poland in a collision course with the bloc.

However, it also praises EU membership and lacks the illiberal ideology that is seen in right-wing governments in Budapest and Warsaw.
Mr Babis
The billionaire has remained popular despite the conflict of interest attacks on his commercial properties of food, chemicals and agriculture, which were placed in a trust while in office.

He also faces police charges that he illegally received an EU subsidy of two million euros when he ran his empire, for an estimated $ 4 billion, before entering politics. He has denied doing anything wrong.
But ANO has won the support of the right and left with promises to drive investments on shoddy roads, remove corrupt politicians and reject any EU-wide plan to resettle Middle Eastern and African immigrants.

He regularly takes hits in Brussels, which plays well with Eurosceptic Czechs and although immigration to the Czech Republic is virtually non-existent, fear of that has played a role in the campaign, with most parties taking a similar harsh stance.

The anti-immigrant environment reflects similar trends in neighboring countries. Parties opposing immigration achieved good results in the German elections in September and the last week of Austria.
