Injury: Bale ruled out of World Cup qualifiers

Wales striker Gareth Bale has been excluded from his last two FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Georgia and Ireland due to a calf injury. Bale, who lost the league game of Real Madrid's weekend against Espanyol,

had arrived with the rest of the Wales team on Sunday and attended an awards dinner in Cardiff. "But after the dialogue with Real Madrid, Bale was sent for a scan and the results confirmed that he would not be in a position to appear," the Football Association of Wales (FAW) said in a statement Tuesday.
"The Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw will now join the rest of the squad later." Bale is the most outstanding player in the Welsh team and the country's hopes of qualifying for next year's World Cup in Russia are still in balance. Chris Coleman's team are second in Group D, four points behind Serbian leader and one clear of Ireland in third. They face hosts Georgia on Friday and host Ireland the following Monday in their final qualifying. Wales need to up the group to secure an automatic spot in Russia, but will move to the playoffs if they finish second. Bale had been dubious after Real manager Zinedine Zidane reported that the player was suffering a slight deformation of calf. The 28-year-old has scored 26 goals in 68 appearances for his country and was instrumental in his career to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
