Senior pastor, assistant jailed for drugging, raping women in the church

A 59-year-old assistant pastor at Liberty Pentecostal Church in Keighley, West Yorkshire, England, Laurence Peterson, has been imprisoned for more than 8 years for helping a church minister, Rev. John Wilson, assault parishioners .

On several occasions, Peterson blocked the doors and arrested the victims when a 70 year old Rev. John Wilson performed "grotesque" exorcisms on a member of the congregation.

A jury heard that Peterson could also have mixed women's tea with drugs to make them more compatible.

Offenses have reportedly left the victims with mental fear.

Peterson was convicted on charges of conspiring to commit indecent assault and two counts of aiding and abetting Wilson to commit sexual acts.

Reverend Wilson was also imprisoned for 21 years for a series of sexual crimes against six women.

The pastor's wife, Mary Wilson, was also found guilty of helping and instigating her husband, and was given a 22-month probation.

Peterson is also barred from holding senior positions in religious bodies or performing ministries.
